Claudia Welss

Claudia Welss is Board Chair and Interim CEO of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), a nonprofit scientific research and experiential discovery lab in CA, USA. IONS was founded by Apollo 14 astronaut and 6th man to walk on the moon, Capt. Ed Mitchell, after he experienced an epiphany in space while returning to Earth in 1971 about the true interconnected nature of reality. Her work with IONS began in the 90s as part of a five-year inquiry on peace building through business while she was at the University of California, Berkeley. She’s on the boards of Space for Humanity (“To Space, For Earth”), HeartMath’s  Global Coherence Initiative, and is lead citizen scientist for GCP 2.0, the next-gen version of the Global Consciousness Project begun at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research lab (PEAR). Claudia is a founding chair and advisor to NEXUS Global, bringing practical consciousness research to nextgen philanthropists, impact investors, social entrepreneurs and activists focused on global transformation. As executive producer of the award-winning Edgar Mitchell Overview Effect Virtual Reality Experience (EMVRX), she’s co-investigator with Cassi Vieten (UC San Diego) on shifts in perception and psychophysiology in response to EMVRX. Claudia convenes the IONS Overview Effect and Collective Consciousness webinar series and is contributing author to the Gold Nautilus award-winning Evolutionary Leaders' anthology, Our Moment of Choice (Simon & Schuster).

Previously, Claudia founded NextNow Collaboratory, described by the director of MIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence as an example of “a new kind of collective intelligence,” and was a director at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where she helped develop and deliver programs on strategy to global corporations while pioneering social responsibility and sustainability curriculum. She holds a B.S. in Business and an M.A. in Wisdom Studies.
