What is Conscious Living?

What is Conscious Living?

Here at Humanity’s Team, we talk a lot about conscious living. It is at the heart of everything we do. In fact, the intention behind our ambitious “Changing Humanity’s Future” Initiative is to make conscious living pervasive within a single generation, by 2040.

Perhaps you’re wondering what conscious living really means. The topic could fill volumes. Examples of conscious living are as varied as the people living them. But what’s common to all is awareness.

When we are conscious and awake, we have an awareness of an internal and an external existence. We have an awareness of the nature of reality and our role in it. This awareness includes three core recognitions:

  1. We are interconnected, one and interdependent with all things.
  2. Every thought, word, and action comes from a place of love or a place of fear.
  3. We create our own experience.

Let’s explore each of these.

We are interconnected.

Living consciously means living with an awareness of who we are, why we are here, and what impact we have on everything around us. Who are we? Consciousness. Pure consciousness having an experience in this physical dimension.

“We are not separate, isolated individuals but multidimensional, interconnected beings of light living in an interconnected universe.” – Barbara Wren

Each of us is part of – and inseparable from – the whole. We are all interconnected in what’s referred to as the Unified Field. If we are connected with everything, that means we also have an impact on everything. When we live consciously, we recognize that what we do affects everyone and everything around us, including other species and the planet itself.

We choose love or fear.

Every thought, word, and action comes from a place of love or a place of fear – and it’s up to us to choose.

“Thoughts rooted in fear will produce one kind of manifestation on the physical plane. Thoughts rooted in love will produce another.” – Conversations with God, Book One by Neale Donald Walsch

“Fear is the cause of every problem. It’s the root of all prejudices and the negative emotions of anger, jealousy, and possessiveness.” – Osho

“When you transmute the patterns of fear stored in your genes, you create a frequency of personal empowerment that ripples through the present, into the past, and to the future, affecting other versions of yourself and all those connected to you.” – Barbara Marciniak

“Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the relinquishment – or unlearning – of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts.” – Marianne Williamson

“Love is the energy of creation. It accelerates the evolution of our consciousness and the flowering of our potential, allowing us to become creators in our own right in the mold of Great Spirit.” – Sol Luckman

We are creators.

We create our own experience. We create our reality every second of the day with our thoughts, words, and actions. All of us together have collectively created the world we now live in. When we recognize this to be true and begin to actively choose our thoughts and words, we are on the path of conscious living.

When we live our lives as creators, we have a sense of purpose – a bigger “why” that serves as the foundation for how we think and what we do. Life is not about merely existing or surviving as a victim of what the world might throw at us. There are no victims. Life is not about competition or survival-of-the-fittest either. Living consciously means joyfully accepting responsibility for our own life and for our role in the planetary family.

“It’s really how we are in the world that makes the difference. We can donate money, or send aid, or volunteer at a shelter, but the first thing we must do is to take responsibility and stock of our own path of consciousness.” – Panache Desai

As part of Humanity’s Team, we invite the whole world to embrace this adventure with us: to live our lives consciously, aware of the Oneness of all things, and acting from a place of love and compassion to create a flourishing world for all.
