Rick Paine, M.Div. Ed.D. humanistic psychologist, ordained United Methodist Minister and philanthropist supporting evolutionary projects, is dedicated to the integration of psychology and spirituality. Since the early 1970’s he has been focused on building healthy communities, beginning with creating New Communities Project, a resource base for intentional communities in the Boston area. Later he served as the minister for First Parish Church, Unitarian, Ashby, MA while simultaneously co-creating Spring Hill, the source community for Opening the Heart Workshops. For years he taught emotional healing at Esalen Institute, Hollyhock, Omega, New York Open Center. During his ministry at All Seasons Chalice Church in Boulder, CO, he co-created a four year Spiritual Development Training offering Wilderness Quests and quarterly workshops throughout the United States. Keenly aware of the importance of healthy community, Rick has served the development of the Threshold Foundation for over 30 years and the Whidbey Institute at Chinook for the past 6 years. He is currently Board Chair of Gender Reconciliation International and New Stories.
