As a country, we have become obsessed with our ìrightsî and have completely abandoned the understanding that we also have responsibilities. If we are to survive and thrive, we must understand that we have a responsibility to take care of one another and this planet we are lucky enough to inhabit. The days of excess, greed, and selfishness must come to an end. Our values must shift from wanting more money and things to wanting better health (physical, emotional, and spiritual), education, and social networks that build a sustainable society. We must also respect the planet that gives us so much and realize that we cannot simply continue to take from it without nurturing it. Individuals and the Government need to commit to participating in this shift.
