Andrew Cohen

Andrew Cohen is a spiritual teacher, cultural philosopher, founder of the global nonprofit EnlightenNext and its award-winning EnlightenNext magazine. For the last 24 years, Cohen has been traveling the world giving public lectures and intensive retreats. Through his ongoing dialogues with leading philosophers, scientists, and mystics, he has become known as one of the defining voices of the new evolutionary spirituality.

Cohen’s teaching was born out of the traditional Eastern philosophy, Advaita Vedanta. In time, as a result of his own inquiry and intensive work with students worldwide, his understanding of the meaning and purpose of Enlightenment evolved into a comprehensive model for individual and cultural development. This teaching, which he calls Evolutionary Enlightenment, sets the perennial spiritual quest in a deep-time evolutionary context, offering a path and perspective more relevant to our postmodern era.

Cohen’s dedication to upleveling the spiritual, philosophical, and moral conversation can be best seen in his flagship publication EnlightenNext. In its 18 years in print, the magazine has engaged spiritual, cultural, and scientific thought leaders in a dynamic inquiry about the nature of inner and outer evolution. It has become known for its longstanding feature “The Guru and the Pandit,” a series of 25 revolutionary dialogues between Cohen and integral philosopher Ken Wilber.

Cohen has presented at numerous forums over the years, including the Parliament of World’s Religions (2004, 2009), LOHAS International Conference, International Transpersonal Conference, Integral Leadership in Action, International Conference on the Frontiers of Yoga and Consciousness Research, India, as well as universities, spiritual centers, and business settings around the world.

Cohen has eight centers worldwide, including a 220-acre retreat center in Massachusetts and a state-of-the-art “green” center in London, England. Author of seven books, including Enlightenment Is A Secret and Living Enlightenment, Cohen has recently written a new book on Evolutionary Enlightenment. For more information WWW.ANDREWCOHEN.ORG.

In our time, when so many people are looking for ways to make the world a better place, more and more of us are going to have to be spiritual heroes: to be willing, in all our imperfection, to be exemplars of what’s possible and to stand for spirit in a disbelieving world.
